My name is Lori and I started Sierra Getaways (formerly known as Tahoe Five Star Hosting) because I fell in love with hosting guests and helping them make the best memories. I will be your host during your stay at all the amazing Sierra Getaways vacation rentals that I'm lucky enough to manage in the North Lake Tahoe area. Ensuring you have the very best and most memorable experience in Tahoe, whether it’s 2 days or 2 weeks, is my top priority.

Wonderful stay and stocked with everything you need
Positive: We had such a great stay at this property! The place was clean, organized, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We loved the amenities and the cozy, welcoming atmosphere. Lori was responsive and helpful throughout our stay! You can tell a lot of thought went into making the space comfortable and enjoyable. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it!

Remodelled property I a a great location on Donner lake. Spacious - we were a family of five and everyone found his spot. Family area provided with all what’s needed for excellent time spent together. Will definitely consider visiting again.

Alina

We had a great stay at Lori’s house. Good location. The house was super clean and Lori was very communicative.

Todd

Amazing place and communicative host. Thank you!

Above-and-beyond hospitality during the Hawk Fire evacuation
Positive: We stayed at this cozy pet-friendly cabin during the recent Reno Hawk Fire evacuation, and I can't say enough good things about how the host, Lori, took care of us. We reached out late on a weekend night with no advance notice, and she still managed to accommodate our family without hesitation. When the power went out across the area due to the emergency fire shutdown affecting Tahoe, Lori stayed on top of things and made sure we were comfortable regardless.

The cabin itself was fantastic. It was stocked with more supplies than we've ever seen at a rental — plenty of everything we could possibly need, which made a stressful evacuation so much easier to manage. The house was clean, quiet, and well cared for. If you're familiar with Tahoe-area properties, you'll know the rustic cabin style is part of the charm here, and this place delivers exactly that authentic feel while still being comfortable and well-equipped. The fenced-in yard was a great bonus for our pet.

Highly recommend this property, and especially grateful for Lori's flexibility and responsiveness when we needed it most.
Negative: Honestly nothing worth mentioning. The rustic style is exactly what you sign up for with a Tahoe cabin, so nothing there felt like a downside.

Lori’s condo was inviting, clean, at a great location and had everything I needed. The kitchen was well equipped even with the basic essentials such as herbs, oils, s&p, baggies, foil and cling wrap as well as proper cleaning supplies ❤️😊 Excellent coffee options (Peet’s dark roast!) provided. The perfect softness of towels and the bed and pillows surrounded me in absolute cloud heaven after a day of hiking. Shirley Canyon direct on site! I loved watching the tram come and go with my morning read and coffee on the porch. Lori was always quick to respond if I had any questions. I look forward to coming again and would recommend it to anyone traveling to Tahoe. Thank you Lori

Eric

AWESOME!!!!!!! Absolutely loved our week in Tahoe at Lori's property right on the Truckee River... fishing, tubing, right out your back door! Plenty of bikes provided for the whole family to jump right on the bike/run/walk path 20 feet out the front door! So convenient to everything! Beautiful setting, absolutely one of the best equipped properties we have ever stayed at! Lori is sweet and so quick to respond to any questions... would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking to stay in this area.

Loved this home. Only a few minutes to town and walking trails adjacent to the property.

J.L. Todd

Wonderful stay! The location is unbeatable and the lake was visible through the trees from the deck. Extremely commodious for our group and you could hardly ask for better stock as I could make coffee in like 20 different ways in the kitchen. We appreciated the ease of check-in. The only issue was the presence of some ants on the entry level but this is to be expected in Tahoe where nature will make itself known.

Erin

Overall: Great host & gorgeous view. No A/C - be careful booking during summer TLDR: Lori's place has all the amenities you need for a nice family vacation & a GORGEOUS view of the water. However--like almost all buildings in town--it does not have A/C. We were unfortunately there during a heat wave & our baby got very sick from how hot it became in the unit. Lori & her son were incredibly responsive: they brough by fans &--when our baby was still sick--an A/C unit to cool down the room he stayed in. It's a great place to stay, but be careful booking in this area (not unique to this unit) if you or your travel companions are heat sensitive.

Anna

Lori is an incredible host, one of the best that I have had the opportunity to stay with. She is incredibly professional and will go above and beyond to ensure that you have a relaxing stay. I've stayed at multiple properties of hers and each one is thoughtfully designed, clean, and accurately described. Lori is readily available to help with anything that you may need during your visit, and is very knowledgable of each property and the surrounding area. I would strongly recommend any of her properties to guests considering staying with her.

Evan

Excellent location and space to host a family gathering. We delighted in the river and all that Tahoe has to offer.

Courtney Momsen

Lori’s place was as advertised. We had a group of six and we were celebrating 3 birthdays that are close together. There was plenty of space, and Lori was extremely communicative and responsive to questions. We would love to rent from Lori again.

Lori’s place was great for a large group. She was responsive and accommodating of a slightly later checkout. The place is great for a large family and for remote work.

Gail

Our group had a wonderful time. Very neat and clean.

Rose

It is a large unit that seems to be newly remodeled/renovated. We loved the high ceilings. Great location at Northstar village, and it is right by the gondola. Close to the shops and restaurant. Convenient parking with good amenities. In our favorites list for the winter season.

Kerrie

We had a fantastic stay!!! Place is awesome, we really enjoyed it! Host was super responsive and accommodating. House is fully loaded with all everything needed. This is a great AirB&B. Lake views are out of control, we could not stop staring at the lake. We will be back!!!

Positive: Lori did a great job of promptly returning calls and texts and addressing any questions
Negative: Everything was awesome!

Michael Herber

La casa muy bonita, camas cómodas, la cocina tiene de todo, la vista es hermosa.

Alejandro

Thank you, Alejandro! We’re so glad you enjoyed the home, the comfortable beds, well-equipped kitchen, and beautiful forest views. It was a pleasure hosting you and your group, and we’d love to welcome you back to Tahoe!

Lori

Such a beautiful condo unit conveniently located, but still feels very private. It was great in the summer. I can't even imagine how wonderful it would be to stay here in the winter. Would definitely recommend staying. And the host was very responsive and made some great recommendations on dinner places and things to do.

Ryan

Thank you, Ryan! We’re so glad you enjoyed the condo and its peaceful location. Northstar really is just as special in the summer as it is in the winter. It was a pleasure hosting you, and we’d love to welcome you back for a ski trip!

We had an amazing stay at this property! The house and surroundings were perfect! The house itself was even more beautiful than the pictures, which is a rare find! It was so clean and incredibly well stocked. The beds were very comfortable. We had everything we needed to make great meals that we enjoyed on the gorgeous deck. We all had a blast watching the rafters float by and the kids loved playing in the river and catching crawdads! Lori was a fantastic host and was super responsive the few times we had to contact her. In all of my decades visiting Tahoe, this was by far one of our best trips!

Taylor

What a wonderful review—thank you! We’re thrilled that the house exceeded your expectations and that your family got to enjoy the river, the deck, and even some crawdad catching! Hearing that this was one of your best Tahoe trips after decades of visiting means so much to us. We absolutely loved hosting you and hope to welcome you back to the river again!

A quality home in a great location with all the ameninites needed for a comfortable stay!
Positive: there was an excellent assortment of dishes and cooking equipment, including napkins and paper towels. The AC was excellent, the hot tob nice and warm , the BBQ was used daily, and the gas fireplace in the outdoor table was great!

mark dulberg

Lori’s place is in walking distance to everything at the Village. We used the pool every day and the gym. We stayed with two toddlers and had plenty of space. Lots of storage and thoughtful touches. Very comfortable space and felt homey. Would definitely book again!

Roxy

Just as described online and looks like the pictures. Very scenic and peaceful. Comfortable beds and great kitchen. Hope to come back.

Robyn

Thank you, Robyn! We’re so glad you enjoyed the peaceful setting, comfortable beds, and well-equipped kitchen. We’d love to welcome you back for another Tahoe getaway!

The location in Kings Beach was excellent! The layout was good for two families with kids, and the kids loved the bunk room in particular.

Ying Hsu

Can’t say enough about the property. It’s beautiful. Very clean and has everything you need. The location is perfect. It’s conveniently located so drives out to activities are short minus the road construction. You’re literally steps from the river off the back deck and there are chairs for lounging right beside the water. If you’re a fisherman like me, bring your fly rod. You can fish right from the yard or walk the bank by the bike trail. The summer doesn’t yield trophy trout like the colder months, but there are some nice ones if you can match the hatch. Lori was an awesome host. She had everything ready to go for us. She was always available and provided excellent recommendations for places to eat and activities to do. Highly recommend! And we’ll definitely be back.

Roland Tolliver

Wonderful cabin right in the heart of Tahoe. Only 5 minutes from downtown Truckee but secluded enough to also experience the joy of nature. We absolutely loved our stay here!

Liam

Our stay at the condo was perfect! It had everything we needed including a beautiful view to the ski slopes. It was close to the pool and other amenities. The kitchen was like new and fully equipped! We loved the balcony with its high table and chairs. Everything was spotless! Lori was a great communicator and available if we needed her. We will definitely be back!

What a beautiful view and incredible location we can’t wait to come back!!

Laura

We had a wonderful stay! The home was big, beautiful, and had plenty of space for our family. The location was peaceful and quiet, making it the perfect place to relax and unwind. Everything was clean, comfortable, and exactly as described. Lori was very responsive, friendly, and easy to communicate with. We really enjoyed our time here and would definitely stay again. Highly recommend!

Consuelo

Larry Andrews

Fantastic stay in Truckee! The place was spotless, beautifully decorated, and had everything we needed. Quick drive to the lake, and peaceful at night. Check-in was seamless and Lori was responsive and thoughtful throughout. Would absolutely stay again, highly recommend!

Daryl

Roberto

We really enjoyed our stay here. The cabin was beautiful, very clean, nicely decorated and was very comfortable. It was well stocked and had everything we needed. The location was great. The outdoor deck is a lovely place to enjoy the beautiful setting. We recommend this cabin!

Sara

The location and views are truly spectacular! Lori was incredibly sweet and accommodating during some hiccups that happened at check-in due to the previous guests. She is a great host and went above and beyond to make up for it. Aside from that, we had such a relaxing and peaceful vacation, and I was happy that the house and deck were easy to walk around for my grandparents. We really enjoyed watching the rafters — it made for great entertainment on the deck. Hope to come back again soon!

Hannah

We had an amazing time staying at this house! The house is fully stocked and beautiful. We loved the layout of the house for our family. We would definitely stay again and wish we could have stayed longer. Lots to do nearby as well.

Rebecca

This unit was fantastic.. Very well appointed. I was concerned about being in “the tower” but the unit made me forget that right away.

Tod Gamlen

Private beach access right across the street. They had lawn chairs right by the water a sand volleyball court there and a nice private dock. The room was very clean and had everything we needed for our 6 night stay. Would definitely stay here again. Host was great sent all the information need for the room and surrounding area. Overall very happy with our stay.

Jason Behnke

Great stay at Lori’s place. Setting is spectacular; the home backs onto a ski run and in the summer it’s very peaceful and relaxing. The home is very well located, both in relation to Truckee and Lake Tahoe, and also within the Northstar community. I’d stay here again.

Bradley

Lori’s space is beautiful. The palisades are the perfect location with plenty to offer within walking distance (shopping and restaurants) and just a short drive to Kings Beach, Truckee River for rafting, and even a fun ropes course further down the property. My kids loved utilizing the pool and spa on site. The condo is spotless with updated appliances and fixtures, has plenty of sleeping space, and plenty of blankets/towels . It was so convenient to have a full kitchen, 2 full bathrooms, and a washer/dryer. My family was so comfortable there for 3 nights and we didn’t need for anything. My kids loved having the loft space all to themselves! Lori was so helpful and welcoming with plenty of great suggestions for our family to do while in Tahoe. Lori had great communication throughout the entire process (from booking to check in to check out). We had an amazing time and felt spoiled being able to stay in her condo for the weekend. We will most definitely book again and recommend highly.

Candace

This is one of the best rentals we have ever had the privilege of staying in. I am an interior designer, and my own home is pretty and tidy and it never really feels like a treat to be staying somewhere else unless there is something special and above and beyond the norm. This place is so special! The waterfront location is dreamy, the decor and overall vibe is very cosy and sophisticated and we all had so much fun floating down the river straight from the backyard. A+ experience. We will definitely come back if ever in the area again.

Amanda

We had a wonderful stay and would absolutely recommend this home! It was exactly as described—new, cozy, and very welcoming. The layout was perfect for our group of two families with young children, giving everyone plenty of space while still having a comfortable common area to spend time together. The kitchen was very well stocked with high-quality dishes, cookware, and everything we needed to prepare meals. We also appreciated all of the mountain home amenities and the thoughtful baby items that made traveling with our little one much easier. Our host was also responsive, kind, and thoroughly communicative throughout our stay, which made everything even smoother. The location was excellent, with so many restaurants, activities, and attractions within about a 15-minute drive. Overall, this was a fantastic home base for our Truckee/Northstar trip, and we would happily stay here again! We look forward to making a winter trip out here to make the most of the ski in/out experience.

Carissa And Richard

We really enjoyed our stay here. The location is amazing and everything is very high-end including home electronics and bedding. We highly recommend this place for a family getaway!

Jiyoung

Place was great! Our 16 year old son wanted to mountain bike here and this place is right in the village and across from the little grocery store and deli. The 3 of us fit great and it was nice to have the pool and hot tubs a 3 minute walk and lots of hiking trails and wildlife. Lots of yummy restaurants in the village too. Highly recommend

Jessica

The house was absolutely amazing!! Cleaning crew was around for a while after our check in time and internet went out for a day or so. The deck and amenities were absolutely wonderful! We would definitely come back.

Nicole

Lori’s place was perfect for our group. We had such a great time, and Lori went above and beyond to make sure we had a comfortable stay. Highly recommend!

Kendall
