My name is Lori and I started Sierra Getaways (formerly known as Tahoe Five Star Hosting) because I fell in love with hosting guests and helping them make the best memories. We really enjoyed our stay for a long weekend in Lake Tahoe. The house was clean and the hot tub was so relaxing! We really appreciated the early check in and having a cooler dropped off so we could use it for a picnic. We had some issues with the TV and remote but it wasn’t a huge deal. The bathroom amenities were great, though we often had lukewarm showers. Overall, it was a great house and great location!

My family has been vacationing in Tahoe since before I was born and we’ve stayed in a lot of beautiful places.  This house is definitely one I will come back to.   The beds and pillows were very comfortable and having two bathrooms was a plus.  The shower, kitchen, deck and living spaces were all great.  Lori responded to all of my questions in a timely manner and was very helpful.

Truthfully, we didn’t have to contact Lori for anything. We had everything we needed plus more! There was a ton of amenities she provided that we didn’t not except this Air bnb would have at all. Such as, wine cups, things to make coffee, tons of pots and pans… It honestly felt like you were living in your own home. It was a cozy and comfortable stay. We enjoyed the fire place and the peaceful atmosphere.

Piney Woods is a great place.  The cabin was perfect in every respect. Comfortable homey feeling. The beds were very comfortable and the bedroom well appointed. The bathrooms were spotless with plenty of fresh towels. We cannot say enough about this lovely retreat from the hustle. The property was widest and the host was on top of everything. 5 Stars all around.

Lori’s place is amazing. Breath taking views that will make you loose hours. So peaceful but so close to fun restaurants in Kings Beach. Cozy Condo In a Nice Location!
Positive: The condo was comfy and centrally located to exploring the area by car. While the village was kind of dead because it is off season, we did eat at a few places and enjoyed a coffee spot across the way. The balcony was also enjoyable. The kitchen was also well-equipped for cooking. Overall it was a nice place to stay!
Negative: The lights were hard to figure out, and many seemed to flicker when used, so the inside was a little dark. Also, there is not a washing machine/dryer in unit, but instead pay-for-use units in the hall. My trip was only a week, so I didn’t need the laundry, but be aware that, although available, they are not in the actual unit and not free.

It was a great stay! The location was perfect, super clean, and very private with parking right in front of the condo. It had everything we needed, including a washer, dryer, and cooking essentials. The beds were super comfy, and everything felt fresh and clean. The house does make some normal older-home noises, so I’d suggest bringing earplugs for the first night. Other than that, it was a beautiful stay!

We had a great stay! We were 2 families traveling together, and there was plenty of space, and everyone was comfortable. Love when the teens have their own floor! The photos are all accurate. Loved the sunset view from the deck, AC worked well, and it was convenient to be so close to town. I'd stay here again.

Lori’s place in King’s Beach is a perfect location to make as your home base at Lake Tahoe. There are tons of things to do nearby and getting to either side of the lake was easy. Lori was very responsive and provided clear communications when we needed it. She was also very accommodating to our needs with challenging flight and travel schedules. It was also a good size for our family of five.

Cozy cabin that has everything you need for a comfortable stay; everything was very clean and welcoming, and the kitchen well-appointed. Lori even went out of her way to drop off a couple of fans, some firewood, and an HOA beach pass from another house (shhhhhh!)  at my request. When some rain swept into the area, driving me from the lovely beach indoors, I gathered some of the abundant pine cones on the property to use as kindling, cooked up a warm fire in the super easy-to-use wood stove, made a cup of hot tea, and curled up for a peaceful evening. Overall I give Lori, the property, and the beautiful, woodsy neighborhood of Carnelian Bay the thumbs up!

We absolutely enjoyed our stay. We were a group of seven, three couples and a single. The house had everything you could possibly want. The private beach is a true gem. We had a ball playing cornhole down there and floating in the water. Be sure to bring sturdy tubes to float. The outdoor area was so comfortable, we spent most afternoons & evenings there before and after dinner. <br/> We’ll be coming back!

It’s a nice cabin, it has that old school cabin vibe. Everything was great except not having a shower in the upstairs bathroom cus in the photos you can see there’s some kind of shower spray attachment there on the bath tub, it was just a minor inconvenience nothing crazy. And I wish there were curtain or blinds in the upstairs bathroom cus even if the view outside were mostly trees- there were other houses/cabins from a distance so we just felt exposed and just had that eerie feeling of being watched especially at night 😅 If you can’t sleep in complete darkness I suggest you bring a night light!! But the kitchen has everything you need! And although we didn’t use the donner passes, I love that that’s included. This location is great in my opinion. My family and I had a great time in Truckee. Thank you Lori! 💗

Lori was an amazing host. Beautiful location. 7 minutes from really amazing food. Very close to the lake. The property views were amazing! We saw a coyote and a bunch of squirrels and chipmunks. Definitely good for kids. <br/>Downsides were the stove top will take 30 minutes to heat up so definitely prepare for that.  We refilled the propane since they left it empty so we could bbq. Couch bed was broken but we made do.

Very disappointing
Negative: When we arrived at 4:30 the handyman was there fixing the dryer, he told us he would return to complete the fix but never did; therefore, no dryer for the stay. It made it difficult to go the beach and pool and not have anyplace except the outdoor railing to hang wet towels and bathing suits. It was warm in the house and on the wall near the front door was what appeared to be a wall heater that had a fan option.  I thought that I would turn it on to get some air moving in the cabin and open the slider.  Upon turning it on, it sparked and I immediately turned it off.  I emailed them to let them know what had happened and that it was a safety issue.  Did not get any response.
The pictures on the website do not reflect the cabin, especially the lighting.  The front room is very dark and the lighting is no conducive to reading in the evening.
Right back burner on stove does not work.
 No screens on some windows for ventilation. My husband found the kitchen screens on the ground behind the house along with the bottom bedroom screen which was broken. He put the kitchen screen on the window so we could open it for air.  
The screen on the slider needs to be replaced as it is bent and the screen is ripped. 
There were no kitchen towels. There were no washcloths for 6 people (2 children which made bathing them hard). 
The upstairs bathroom will need a window covering when the house behind is completed or they will be able to look into the bathroom. 
Some of the blinds need to be replaced as we were unable to open them .  
Upon departure we were asked to start a load of towels but there was no laundry soap, it was a good thing that I always have laundry sheets in my luggage to I was able to start the load of towels.

We really enjoyed this cabin in beautiful Truckee. The front porch was fully fenced in which was great for our kids. We had fun with all the vintage puzzles and were able to cook all our meals in the fully equipped kitchen.

Cozy cabin
Positive: Lots of room and very kid friendly (bunk beds, games, crayons, etc.). Parking was easy and property was well maintained. Lori was attentive and provided all necessary information up front. Beds, blankets, and towels were super cozy and plentiful. The appliances worked well and lots of dishes provided for use. The heater worked great!
Negative: This home is very dated and many of the images are of a center that is not on the property. The carpet, lounge chairs,  and many appliances and fixtures throughout the home are easily from the 70’s-80’s (fine for a bathroom, I’d hate to imagine the actual cleanliness of the carpet and upholstery). The downstairs bathroom had a plastic sheet shower curtain (no door as in the picture) that did not keep the floor dry. The “HOA amenities” are a 10min drive away and cannot be accessed without paying 20$ per person each time you want to go. So we didn’t.  But the Trout Creek Center looked nice!

The place is very nice and worth the price we paid. Check in was super easy with the key code lock.  The bedding was clean and everything matched the photos. 
Only one issue we had was getting onto the WiFi. Took a couple messages from the hosts and a couple tries but that worked out well.
