My name is Lori and I started Sierra Getaways (formerly known as Tahoe Five Star Hosting) because I fell in love with hosting guests and helping them make the best memories. It is a large unit that seems to be newly remodeled/renovated. We loved the high ceilings. Great location at Northstar village, and it is right by the gondola. Close to the shops and restaurant. Convenient parking with good amenities. In our favorites list for the winter season.

Wonderful cabin right in the heart of Tahoe.  Only 5 minutes from downtown Truckee but secluded enough to also experience the joy of nature.  We absolutely loved our stay here!

Our stay at the condo was perfect!  It had everything we needed including a beautiful view to the ski slopes.  It was close to the pool and other amenities.  The kitchen was like new and fully equipped!  We loved the balcony with its high table and chairs.  Everything was spotless!  Lori was a great communicator and available if we needed her.  We will definitely be back!

The location and views are truly spectacular! Lori was incredibly sweet and accommodating during some hiccups that happened at check-in due to the previous guests. She is a great host and went above and beyond to make up for it. Aside from that, we had such a relaxing and peaceful vacation, and I was happy that the house and deck were easy to walk around for my grandparents. We really enjoyed watching the rafters — it made for great entertainment on the deck. Hope to come back again soon!

Great stay at Lori’s place. Setting is spectacular; the home backs onto a ski run and in the summer it’s very peaceful and relaxing. The home is very well located, both in relation to Truckee and Lake Tahoe, and also within the Northstar community. I’d stay here again.

Lori’s space is beautiful. The palisades are the perfect location with plenty to offer within walking distance (shopping and restaurants) and just a short drive to Kings Beach, Truckee River for rafting, and even a fun ropes course further down the property. My kids loved utilizing the pool and spa on site. The condo is spotless with updated appliances and fixtures, has plenty of sleeping space, and plenty of blankets/towels . It was so convenient to have a full kitchen, 2 full bathrooms, and a washer/dryer. My family was so comfortable there for 3 nights and we didn’t need for anything. My kids loved having the loft space all to themselves! Lori was so helpful and welcoming with plenty of great suggestions for our family to do while in Tahoe. Lori had great communication throughout the entire process (from booking to check in to check out). We had an amazing time and felt spoiled being able to stay in her condo for the weekend. We will most definitely book again and recommend highly.

This is one of the best rentals we have ever had the privilege of staying in. I am an interior designer, and my own home is pretty and tidy and it never really feels like a treat to be staying somewhere else unless there is something special and above and beyond the norm. This place is so special! The waterfront location is dreamy, the decor and overall vibe is very cosy and sophisticated and we all had so much fun floating down the river straight from the backyard. A+ experience. We will definitely come back if ever in the area again.

We had a wonderful stay and would absolutely recommend this home! It was exactly as described—new, cozy, and very welcoming. The layout was perfect for our group of two families with young children, giving everyone plenty of space while still having a comfortable common area to spend time together. The kitchen was very well stocked with high-quality dishes, cookware, and everything we needed to prepare meals. We also appreciated all of the mountain home amenities and the thoughtful baby items that made traveling with our little one much easier. Our host was also responsive, kind, and thoroughly communicative throughout our stay, which made everything even smoother. The location was excellent, with so many restaurants, activities, and attractions within about a 15-minute drive. Overall, this was a fantastic home base for our Truckee/Northstar trip, and we would happily stay here again! We look forward to making a winter trip out here to make the most of the ski in/out experience.

Place was great! Our 16 year old son wanted to mountain bike here and this place is right in the village and across from the little grocery store and deli. The 3 of us fit great and it was nice to have the pool and hot tubs a 3 minute walk and lots of hiking trails and wildlife. Lots of yummy restaurants in the village too. Highly recommend

The house was absolutely amazing!!  Cleaning crew was around for a while after our check in time and internet went out for a day or so.  The deck and amenities were absolutely wonderful!  We would definitely come back.

We loved the week we spent in this private and modern home! There were four adults and two teens, and we had plenty of room both indoors and out. We loved how the space was arranged, with a large common area upstairs and a big private bedroom/bathroom/seating area on the ground level. It was so nice having a garage that could fit our two EVs, with fast charging that was super easy to use. We also loved the deck out back, which looked onto the gorgeous woods just below. And speaking of the woods, there was a lovely hiking and running path through the forest that — with an entrance just a few feet from the home. We'd highly recommend this place, and we'd love to come back ourselves. The icing on the cake was fast internet, multiple workspaces that made it easy to connect our laptops for Zoom meetings, and an extremely well stocked kitchen that had everything we could ask for. Including a Fellow grinder and hot water kettle!

Lori was a great host and the house was beautifully renovated. Great location, walking distance to restaurants and HOA beach (beach passes included!). The home comfortably fit 3 families with 2 babies and 3 littles. We were worried about sleep, but there was good soundproofing and the beds were very comfortable so we had no issues surprisingly. The kitchen was also fully stocked with everything we needed to make multiple meals a day for our large group. Would definitely stay here again and glad we booked it.

Lori’s place was great and just how it was described and how looked in photos. The kitchen was equipped with everything you could need for cooking and it was a big plus for us. We requested for a bassinet for our 2 months old daughter and she ordered a brand new one for us, though it was a plus, but since it was brand new, we had to assemble it ourselves and we actually expected it to be made and ready to use, but not a big deal for us since our daughter was as comfortable on the beds and didn’t end up using it. We weren’t as happy with the cleaning in the living room as the fans were not clean, and as it was hot, once we ran the fan, a lot of dust fell off on us which we didn’t like. We did requested for a cleaning to Lori, but nobody showed up during our entire stay for cleaning, but it’s ok since we used the table top fans as a workaround. Overall we loved our stay and couldn’t ask for a better spot for our first trip with our daughter. We will definitely come back and stay here

This place was amazing for our little weekend family getaway on July 4th! Easy and accommodating to check in even for our very late arrival. Amenities were great, everything you need in the appartement and just steps away from the village. Lori was extremely helpful and responsive even when we arrived in the dead of the night and could not locate the crib for our 2yo. We will be back!

Lori’s place was very nice and clean. Pictures are right on and it’s a 10-13 min walk to beach/restaurants/market! Just make sure to snapshot your entry instructions bc there is no service until you get in house and get on wifi.

Lori’s place was one of our favorite stays. She provided plenty of towels, washcloths. Well stocked kitchen. Loved the area. The little village so fun to walk around. We hiked on the Shirley Cannon trail to the top and rode down on the air trolly. This is all within walking distance. Our girls enjoyed the gym, hot tub and pool! Lori was an amazing host! Book now you won’t be disappointed!

Came for a trail race. Excellent location right in the Village! Lovely apartment with kitchen, AC, and everything you need. Short walk to main lodge with pool, sauna, gym etc. Lori is a great host and communicates well. I was the first guest at Lori's apartment, so we did run into some kinks but I'm confident we got them ironed out so they won't be a factor for future guests. Mostly - the heat was cranked to full blast and AC hardware had not yet been configured for summer, so it was 90 degrees in the unit for the first night and day.. we got in late, Lori jumped into action the next morning to begin troubleshooting. I paid extra to get a place with AC, and even once it started working it wasn't especially effective cooling the bedroom which is located down the hall from the living room where the AC is. But nights in late June were cool enough that sleeping was comfortable regardless, if you don't mind a little extra noise from open windows. All in all I would recommend and return.

We last minute had a cancellation and Lori was ready and willing to have us stay at her place. The cabin was in excellent condition. Tahoe city was only a few minutes away and the beach was walkable! We were very impressed and overall happy with the experience. No complaints.

Lori’s riverfront home was beyond beautiful! Majestic 360 degree views of the forest, mountains & river! 5 stars! ⭐️ The home had more thoughtful touches than expected & all the comforts of a well stocked home. We truly felt like we were staying in a friend’s home. Communication with Lori was fast, kind & helpful. Her guidebook was full of thorough personal suggestions & local treasures & made planning our trip so much easier. This was our first trip to Tahoe from SoCal & I imagine it will be our favorite forever! North Lake Tahoe & Truckee have so many amazing summer activities nearby. We white water rafted, drifted on tubes on the river right outside the backdoor, rented a boat to wake tube on the lake, & more! Relaxing at the home was so peaceful with the views & sounds of the river flowing. Even watching other river drifters from the huge deck was fun! Our family, kids & dog had the time of our lives & are sad it’s time to leave the riverfront home. We definitely plan to come back!

This was a phenomenal introduction to the Lake Tahoe and Truckee area for our family. We have stayed at dozens of AirBnB’s but this place took the Gold and for all the right reasons. The peaceful surroundings are comparable only to the best that mother nature has to offer, the architecture and interior design flow with the theme of the home, and the nice and thoughtful touches that the host provided were very accommodating. This town is beautiful and this home is on such a wonderful river that seems to thrive with the spirit of the mountains and valleys around it, full of life, rest, and relaxation. The decor was on point, quality and comfortable, the deck was fabulously large, and the riverbank was beautiful as well. Thank you for such a nice stay!

Great location in Northstar resort area - in a gated community area. nice property, the instructions for the tvs were not super clear and we couldn't figure out how to make them work without more detailed instructions, so we didn't end up watching TV at all. Great house, some condiments and some basics for cooking at the house, there were a variety of cooking appliances and great pots and pans. I would definitely stay here again.

Lori is an awesome host. Communication was phenomenal!!!  The house was beyond amazing.  We felt like ROYALTY.  Having a Level 2 EV Charger inside the garage was very convenient. The leather couch in the living room was very cozy along with the huge TV and surround system. Oh, did I mention the river?  OMG. Oh, did I mention how awesome Lori was? OMG  :)   We were also fortunate to be their first guests.  No need to look any further for a rental.  I highly recommend this paradise.

Our stay at Lori’s condo was amazing. After another host canceled on us last minute, Lori responded and accepted our request within minutes and send us all the check in information right away. She really saved our weekend trip! The condo location is perfectly walkable to the chairlifts and village restaurants, with included parking and access to lots of amenities. Great view from the condo, with nice separation between the bedroom and living space, and a full kitchen and the double vanity bathroom was very clean, spacious, and well stocked. The building is not that contemporary, but Loris unit is tastefully updated, decorated, and surprisingly child safe, with soft clean linens, very little breakable stuff, and fully covered outlets. The coffee bar was a nice addition, but being 2 minutes from Wildflour was the real winner. We will definitely be returning with our two kids.

I would highly recommend Lori's place.  Everything feels higher end for an AirBnb: comfy bed and sheets, plush towels, great kitchen, etc.  There is also a sit/stand desk if you have to get any work done while there.  The location is perfect.  60 second walk to Wa She Shu lift or a 5 minute walk to the Funitel.  The unit is a corner unit, so only neighbors on one side: feels very private.  The views are pretty of the mountains.  Close enough to the village to be walkable and convenient, but far enough to feel a bit more private.  Lori is an amazing host - super friendly, proactive, and responsive.  Truly enjoyed my stay and can't wait to come back!
