My name is Lori and I started Sierra Getaways (formerly known as Tahoe Five Star Hosting) because I fell in love with hosting guests and helping them make the best memories. We had a wonderful stay and would absolutely return. The home is beautiful, comfortable, and incredibly well equipped for a mountain getaway. The ski-in/ski-out access is fantastic, skiing straight down to the gondola made everything effortless, and waits were only a few minutes. The hot tub was perfect after long days on the slopes, and the views are stunning. Inside, the beds were exceptionally cozy, with plenty of sleeping space (the bunk beds were a hit with the kids). The house is very well stocked with dishes, cookware, spices, and thoughtful extras like a full coffee and hot chocolate station. We especially appreciated the ski storage, boot and glove dryers, easy garage access, and always-cleared snowy entry. Communication with the host was quick, helpful, and friendly. Overall, a beautiful, well-cared-for home that made our trip easy, relaxing, and memorable. Highly recommend!

We had a great stay at this place. The space was great for our two families of 6 kids, and the kitchen was very well stocked. Plenty of space for everyone inside, and the backyard was excellent for snow play. Access to the garage was especially nice during the snow storm. A major storm delayed our travels and we arrived a day late. Lori was more than accommodating and allowed us to extend our stay.

We love staying at this location and Lori was a great host! The home was very cozy and clean. The view is amazing watching the skiers go down the hill from the window while we relaxed by the fire. We were able to walk out the front door, jump right onto the mountain and ski down to the village gondola. Definitely recommended and would stay there again.

Lori’s place was perfect for our family of 3. We got stuck in Tahoe during a recent snowstorm and moved from another Airbnb to Lori’s place. Lori was an absolute angel to let us check in early and we felt immediately comfortable the moment we opened the door to her cabin. The beds were so comfortable, there were plenty of cozy blankets, and the bench was the best place to watch snowfall.

This home exceeded every expectation. The ski-in/ski-out access is truly unbeatable—you step right off the deck and onto the run, then ski straight back home. Après-ski in the private hot tub overlooking the slopes was the perfect way to end each day. The space is modern, open, and incredibly comfortable. The main living area is ideal for gathering, and the gourmet kitchen is fully stocked with everything you could need. Upstairs, the second living area was a huge bonus—it gave everyone room to spread out, relax, watch TV, or unwind after a long day on the mountain. The location is peaceful yet incredibly convenient, with easy access to Northstar Village, The Tree House amenities, and the Ritz-Carlton. And Lori is hands-down the best host we’ve ever had—responsive, thoughtful, and truly invested in making the stay exceptional. We would absolutely return and recommend this home without hesitation. Beautiful and cozy cabin and close to grocery store. Comfortable beds and linen! Great kitchen and well stocked! Host very responsive and went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable. Lots of games and had baby gate and high chair and pack and play.

Cozy and comfortable! Lori was a great communicator and her place was perfect for our family. There is a wood burning fireplace and peekaboo views of the lake from the living room, which is oozing with Tahoe charm. Keep in mind that the neighborhood has roads that are steep and not well-plowed. Without 4-wheel-drive or chains it would be difficult to drive to the house. Thankfully we had 4wd so were able to make it up, but wanted to share this info with future renters. All in all, a fantastically clean, cozy, charming place!

The place was spotlessly clean, beautifully appointed, and very cozy—perfect after a day on the mountain. Lori is an exceptional property manager. She was incredibly responsive and truly went above and beyond, offering great recommendations for parking, restaurants, and lodge clubs. Any small issues were handled immediately and professionally. This home is clearly very well cared for, and Lori made the entire experience seamless. We would 100% stay here again and highly recommend both the property and Lori.

We had the BEST time! My family came in from South Carolina and had a White Christmas. The streets and driveways were plowed and easy to come and go from even during a winter storm. The house was super clean and so cozy! We also baked and cooked and the kitchen was well stocked with pans and utensils. Lori was super easy to communicate with and I couldn’t recommend the house more. So beautiful!

This was an amazing Airbnb in a fantastic location - we could xc ski right out of our door into the forest. Easy access into town and restaurants/grocery. Well equipped kitchen and amenities. Loved the dining area which seated all 8 of us easily. Beds were so comfortable and generally we loved the vibe and coziness of the space. The loft was a highlight, such a cozy nook up there. Would come here again!

Took my family for a weekend getaway in this beautiful modern home. Nice quiet location with beautiful nature surrounding it. We loved how close it was to the grocery store and restaurants and the trails are around the corner. The home was beautiful and modern equipped with everything we needed from towels and a hair dryer to a bbq grill and measuring spoons. Lori was very responsive and very easy to reach out to. She took very good care of is during our trip and we got our moneys worth for sure.

We really enjoyed our stay for a long weekend in Lake Tahoe. The house was clean and the hot tub was so relaxing! We really appreciated the early check in and having a cooler dropped off so we could use it for a picnic. We had some issues with the TV and remote but it wasn’t a huge deal. The bathroom amenities were great, though we often had lukewarm showers. Overall, it was a great house and great location!

My family has been vacationing in Tahoe since before I was born and we’ve stayed in a lot of beautiful places.  This house is definitely one I will come back to.   The beds and pillows were very comfortable and having two bathrooms was a plus.  The shower, kitchen, deck and living spaces were all great.  Lori responded to all of my questions in a timely manner and was very helpful.

Piney Woods is a great place.  The cabin was perfect in every respect. Comfortable homey feeling. The beds were very comfortable and the bedroom well appointed. The bathrooms were spotless with plenty of fresh towels. We cannot say enough about this lovely retreat from the hustle. Lori’s place is amazing. Breath taking views that will make you loose hours. So peaceful but so close to fun restaurants in Kings Beach. The pier was a great place to swim in the lake or soak up the last of the sunshine. Lori was a great host and very easy to communicate with. Best place I have rented in Lake Tahoe. We will be back!
